DOMINIK GIGLER – NOT JUST ONE …

ART CLUB BELLEVUE HALL

Our perception is exposed to an infinite number of impressions at any time. The web is full of images that reflect contemporary politics, social issues, but also the banal. In the search for these images, it is noticeable that motifs repeat themselves on the one hand, and on the other hand are illuminated from different angles.

These diverse perspectives are put together in the series “not just one…”, each forming a mixed, new motif. In the age of the Anthropocene, humanity is exposed to natural disasters, as well as man-made obstacles and atrocities. The submitted series visually deals with situations and events of current crises and disasters, in which the photographer could not directly participate: the attempt of photographic reappraisal.

The subject of the series includes: the nuclear disasters of Fukushima, Three Mile Island and Chernobyl, hurricanes, the crimes committed against the White Rose resistance group, the Ukraine conflict and the environmental disaster on the drilling platform “Deepwater Horizon”.
