PHILOSOPHY
The aim of the Wiesbaden Photo Days is to bring contemporary photography more into the public eye and to showcase artistic engagement with the medium by presenting professional, high-quality photographic works under a thematic focus.
Beyond the omnipresent flood of images and the commercial exploitation of the photographic image, the Wiesbaden Photo Days offer a space in which individual, controversial and exciting photographic concepts find their place. The aim is to initiate a debate on artistic positions. The selection criteria for the contributions are based on the originality of photography and its immanent perspectives as well as conditions of creation, which are determined less by the market than by the examination of the medium and its aesthetic possibilities.
The Wiesbaden Photo Days seek intensive contact with the public and want to make access to the medium of photography as direct as possible. The aim is to reach not only the professional audience and those interested in art, but also the younger generation. We see ourselves as a festival and discussion forum with close contact to the participating artists and their works.
