»Closed for Business«

“Closed for Business” documents the timeless shopfronts of once-thriving high streets in London, exploring the decline of small businesses, shifts in consumer behaviour, and the effects of commercial standardisation on inner cities. The series examines the challenges facing independent businesses and the broader impact on urban design. The homogenisation of city centres, dominated by corporate chains and shopping malls, has been accelerated by the pandemic and the growth of online retail. Although photographed in London, the images suggest a wider, universal transformation of city centres.
