»schwarz rot gold 2024«

This work is based on the wall installation “black red gold”, first presented at NordArt 2008. The installation featured an extensive collection of slides—gathered from various sources—carefully stored in one-litre preserving jars. The images remained hidden from view, prompting visitors to summon their own inner pictures. The piece functioned as both a catalyst and a surface for reflection: Germany in the minds of its people—caught between clichés, realities, and darker undercurrents.

Sixteen years on, the question of what image we hold of Germany—and what image we wish to shape for the future—feels more pressing than ever. What kind of society and political system do we want to live in? The very concepts of freedom and pluralism are being renegotiated. Everything seems possible. Even the unthinkable now appears within reach.

So what is our vision? How do we want to shape and live our future? What is the relationship between the individual and society—and what responsibility do they bear for one another? What is at stake?

Or, to put it more bluntly: future? What future?!
