Berit Jäger »Looking ahead — the future between reality and AI«

This series explores personal visions of the future—created at the intersection of human imagination and artificial intelligence. The artist invited people from diverse backgrounds to generate their own image of a future city using AI. She also photographed each participant in front of their current home.

Beneath each AI-generated image, the original prompt used is displayed. This pairing offers a glimpse into individual hopes and dreams, while also documenting the evolving capabilities of AI-generated imagery over time.

Participants were free to envision either a utopia or a dystopia. Interestingly, most imagined futures filled with greenery and nature. Despite today’s many challenges, this reflects a deeply rooted optimism—suggesting that our view of tomorrow is still guided by hope.
