Sven Weber
»‘let’s wait and see how far we get…«
In his photographic work, Sven Weber explores the hopeful yet painful tension between past and future. Centered on the farewell of his grandparents—who are leaving their longtime home to move into assisted living—his images capture a moment in which identity, memory, and outlook come into poignant contrast.
This transition reveals more than just the visible traces of a life once lived. It also uncovers the invisible marks of profound change. It is a moment suspended in time: just before what comes next, and just after what once was—a moment filled with both promise and loss.
It was in this space that his grandmother spoke the phrase that gives the book its title, a line marked by both caution and quiet hope: “Let’s wait and see how far we get.” For Weber, the empty wooden frames in the home become images in their own right—frames that can hold confidence, longing, or both.
