The festival poster is printed and can be seen on all advertising pillars in the city from August 5! The original motif is by the Berlin photographer Laura Stromp, whose series “Origin” will be exhibited at the frauen museum wiesbaden from August 13, 2022.

++ The shortlist of the Photo Days 2022 ++

After the application process came the jury and after the jury meeting, the day has finally come today when we publish the participating artists of the Wiesbaden Photo Days 2022. With well over 500 applicants, the selection was anything but easy for us. But here it is — the shortlist of the Wiesbaden Photo Days 2022.

++ Award of the Otto Steinert Prize 2022 ++

On Saturday, August 20, the Wiesbaden Photo Days will host the Image Section of the German Society for Photography (DGPh), which will officially award the Otto Steinert Prize 2022 at an evening event. The prize is named after the legendary photographer and university lecturer Otto Steinert and is aimed at young professional photographers in Germany. It has been awarded every two years since 1979.

++ Open-Air-Exhibition is opened ++

The open-air exhibition »20 Years of Wiesbaden Photo Days — Looking Back and Looking Ahead« was officially opened during a press tour. On large-format tarpaulins, photographic works from the previous two decades will be presented on Luisenplatz in Wiesbaden until April 24, 2022.

++ Open Call 2022 ends with record participation ++

We are enthusiastic about the number and the quality of the submissions that have reached us from many countries in Europe and from around the world. With this year’s festival theme »TURBULENT TIMES« we hit a nerve and received significantly more submissions than we had expected.

++ Photo/Book/Salon ++

In cooperation with the Fotobookfestival Kassel we will show the 52 best photo books of the Kassel Dummy Award 2022 during the Fototage at the Kunsthaus Wiesbaden.

The Kassel Dummy Award is the competition for the best unpublished photobook of the year. Together with its cooperation partners, the Fotobookfestival invites all photographers worldwide to participate. In 2022, 262 books from 32 countries were submitted.

Media partners of the Photo Days

The Wiesbaden Photo Days will be accompanied by two media partners for the first time at its 12th edition. We are pleased about the cooperation with Sensor Wiesbaden and hr2-kultur.

Oschatz Visuelle Medien becomes main sponsor of the Photo Days

The company Oschatz Visuelle Medien in Niedernhausen not only donates the two sponsorship prizes — the Jury Prize and the Audience Prize — of the 12th Wiesbaden Photo Days, but will also support the festival in terms of printing technology as a competent partner in word and deed.

A jury of seven decides on the nominations for the exhibitions of the 12th Wiesbaden Photo Days. The members of the jury are: Monique Behr (Kulturamt Wiesbaden), Michaela Höllriegel (Wiesbadener Fototage), Dr. Christina Leber (Kunststiftung DZ Bank), Dr. Marina Mettner (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie), Daniel Oschatz (Oschatz Visuelle Medien), Marc Peschke (Wiesbadener Fototage), Jürgen Strasser (Wiesbadener Fototage)

++ Festival topic for 2022 has been decided ++

We are in a time of reflection, rethinking, upheaval, reconsideration and a fresh start. With the topic »TURBULENT TIMES« , the 12th Wiesbaden Photo Days want to take current developments into account. To this end, we are looking for images and photo series that reveal original, surprising, unexpected or even unseen perspectives and positions.

++Wiesbaden Photo Days with new management++

The long-time organizers of the Wiesbaden Photo Days, Reinhard Berg and Frank Deubel, have handed over the management of the Wiesbaden Photo Days to Jürgen Strasser . Jürgen Strasser is a photo artist with studios in Wiesbaden and Worpswede and has made a name for himself in the photo scene with the management of the “RAW Phototriennale” in the artists’ village Worpswede. He feels committed to the “philosophy” of the founders and will continue the concept of the Wiesbaden Photo Days with great pleasure and commitment. Michaela Höllriegel, who was already involved in the organization of the Wiesbaden Photo Days in 2017 and 2019, will remain on board for the 12th edition. The third member of the festival management is the photo artist, curator and cultural journalist Marc Peschke.

++Wiesbaden Photo Days change to triennial cycle++

Starting in 2019, the Wiesbaden Photo Days will continue as a triennial. At the suggestion of the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, the Wiesbadener Fototage, the Darmstädter Tage der Fotografie and the RAY Fotografieprojekte Frankfurt/RheinMain have mutually agreed on a 3‑year rhythm. Thus, a photo festival will be held in the Rhine-Main metropolitan region on an alternating basis each year. The next Wiesbaden Photo Days will take place in August 2022.

The further development of the Wiesbaden Photo Days will be accompanied and financially supported by the Cultural Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden and the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain as the most important partners.

++Wiesbaden Photo Days awarded the 2019 Culture Prize of the state capital Wiesbaden++

The Wiesbaden Photo Days were awarded in 2019 by the state capital with the “Prize for the promotion of cultural life”, the Culture Award. This was decided unanimously by the jury under the chairmanship of the head of culture Axel Imholz (SPD), according to a statement by the city administration.

In addition to the head of culture, the jury included the cultural policy spokespersons of the city hall parliamentary groups (Dorothea Angor, Hartmut Bohrer, Gabriele Enders, Dr. Klaus-Dieter Lork, Wilfried Lüderitz, Hendrik Schmehl, Claudia Spruch) and the head of the cultural office, Jörg-Uwe Funk. The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros and is awarded for special achievements in the fields of visual arts, music, literature or performing arts.
